Romford and Ilford Stations Temporary Works Design
THE BRIEF
As part of the Crossrail programme, Romford and Ilford stations in Essex are receiving significant improvements. For Romford station this means improvements to the station facade, ticket hall and lifts http://www.crossrail.co.uk/route/eastern-section/romford-station) and Ilford station will be rebuilt http://www.crossrail.co.uk/route/eastern-section/ilford-station).
To facilitate the installation of the permanent works scheme designed by Atkins, Robert West were engaged by our client, principal contractor VolkerFitzpatrick, to provide temporary and enabling works including demolition sequences, assessments of existing structures, excavation support and various temporary foundations and other structures.

Our team has been able to respond agilely to the needs of the client, providing quality design packages to a fast-paced and developing program. Our experience of working within the Railway and Temporary Works sectors has allowed us to go above and beyond, providing additional support and advice throughout the process so far.
FINAL OUTCOMES
Phase 001 of the works (including the demolition packages) went smoothly during the possession with all enabling works being completed on time.
Our team enjoyed solving the puzzle of the staged delivery program and the challenges associated with working around existing historical assets. The team received excellent feedback from the client for their hard work and responsiveness and as a consequence our scope has increased to include provision of construction support services.
