Flo JV appointed Robert West Consulting to design the temporary works at Chelsea Embankment Foreshore that will allow the permanent works of a shaft to intercept existing storm sewers to take sewage to the new Thames Tideway Tunnel for treatment at Barking.

The temporary works consist of the design of a twin wall cofferdam, a temporary storm water outfall and campshed for mooring barges.

The temporary works solution developed by Robert West comprised a review of monopile and twin wall solutions using a non linear push over analysis with 3D modelling in PLAXIS and STAAD to evaluate the potential damage of a ship impact to the temporary cofferdam.  A sheet pile drivability/vibration analysis, seepage analysis and sealing details for the existing river wall were also undertaken.
